my speed kit

inspired by roland, i have put together a 'speed' kit...consisting of an rd1 body, along with a cv 28/1.9, a cv 40/1.4 and a zm 50/1.5...slowing things down a bit is my cv 15/4.5 ( i have to have a 15 in the kit)
i might add a cv 35/1.2 eventually, if funds and opportunity collide.

my slower kit will consist of an rd1s body, a cv 28/3.5 (or the cv 25), a canon 35/2.8 and a leica 50/2.8 m elmar (newer one). i also bought another cv 15 as a must have for any rd1 kit.

The Ultron and 40 Nokton are a great kit, Joe, I've used them together.

And the Color Skopar and Elmar-M, too !

Good on you Joe. Fast is good. Good fast lenses that is. I also carry around the 28/f.19 and the 35/f1.4. The 35/f1.2 I´ve on (permanent?) loan is nice, but it´s so biiiig. Even makes the 28 seem small.

well, of course they can 😛

but the slower lenses are smaller and lighter...plus i am in a lens buying and trying mood.
after years of a neurotic balancing act of how many lenses are too many lenses, i am finally free to just enjoy them all for thier unique qualities and characteristics.

the 28 isn't really all the big.
my facination with the 35/1.2 comes from looking at images made by it coupled with all the positive chatter about it.
but i'm in no particular rush...

Indeed. I find that I don't even like having a 28 and a 35 together in the same kit. The spread is narrow enough that I just feel like I'm carrying extra weight for very little reason.

also mukul, i live alone (except for my dogs), don't drink or gamble, have no other hobbies and therefore my extra $$ is dedicated to my gear.

as to a 40 and a 50...i have always liked the 75 lens and on the rd1 my 50 is like a 75...the 40 was a complete surprise for me in that it translates to a 60mm lens and i seem to quite like that fov...who knew?
i have alwyas used both a 28 and a 35 together so that 'small' difference was not a factor for me. i also now have a 25 and a 28.

and just thinking that i could put a small/light kit together of just cv lenses...28/3.5 and cv 50/2.5...maybe i should pick up a cv 35/2.5 as well...a small, light and cheap kit for all those bad neighborhoods that i prowl...

Just buy an old Tele-Astranar 400/6.3 and put it on a Nikon F. Don;t have to load the camera- just the look will keep them away.

Sounds like a good kit. That 40/1.4 is tempting.

But F1.1 even more so...

i have been tempted to sell the sonnar and get the nokton but have resisted so far.
