New 50mm f1.1

Ko.Fe did well to point out the copper lens mount. Copper?

I doubt the mount is copper. Something must have gotten lost in translation there.

I'm more curious about the number of aperture blades... 7 or 12? Or did elements somehow get translated as "blades"?!

fwiw the Voigtlander F1.1 mount is brass.

With the size of the lens hanging off the front of the body the lens mount does see a fair amount of force. My F1.1 when I had it had the chrome/whatever rub off at the bottom of the mount, revealing the brass.

That is a plating over whatever the lens mount material is. Copper, or did they mean brass?

They do say 7 aperture blades, then 12. But the aperture diagram shows 7.

My biggest beef is their supplied sample images show terrible sharpness and bokeh. I know sharpness is not everything, but when the images they use look like they are out of focus, that to me means the lens sucks. Forget about the 1.1 aperture if you can't make decent shots at that setting.

I would still buy the Voigtlander 50 f/1.1 again despite how huge it is but I probably wouldn't buy one of these to be honest. Though who knows, maybe when it gets out there we'll see if it's any good.

Somebody posted at L forum the link to the thread with more real live images and test shots taken with this lens:

Translate to English works. 🙂

Some shots with M-E and M240. IMO, at f2 it seems to be worst than my J-3 at f2 on M-E, while it is shimmed for FED-2...

The bokeh at f1.1 is not too bad in that sample shot.

If someone said the shot was taken with a 1950s speed Zunow lens of f1.1 at 5cm going for 5 grand $ or a rare LTM 5cm f1.1 Nikkor lens going for similar prices then most would be goo goo gaga over the image quality of the sample photo.

To be honest, I can't find anything wrong with bokeh of this lens. Maybe I'm not concentrated enough this time, but I noticed double jittering in Rokkor-M 40 bokeh right away, yet, many seems to like it. 🙂

The new Chinese speed lens is a bargoon at that price, if the lens is not held together with pre-chewed bubble gum and falls apart in your hands like some NOS Kiev 60 lenses I owned.

I like this lens..if I didn't already have a Noct F1...I would buy in a heart beat..esp in dicey situations or for video...$369...dude...they should sell a ton of these..

This could be a nice character-shot option for people who like live view focusing on Sony, Fuji, etc. Quite a bit cheaper than Fuji's 56, anyway (and yes, I know the Fuji is a technically much better lens!).

I wonder how many lenses that company/factory/staff have made?

I would love to try one too. There simply are other priorities at this time.

If I wanted something that fast I'd stay with the Voigtlander personally because if life has taught me one thing ... it's that you get what you pay for!

A year from now we will know much better whether this is a bargain or just effectively marketed junk. 😀

Thanks for the link. Much much better pics there than on the original link.
Now, to me, this lens totally seems worth it.

But, already have a Nokton 1.1 which I love!

What in the world is that "Seven Blades" diagram supposed to represent? Looks more like lens elements, but there is no sense of the lens shapes or groupings. I think they just had an abstract "technical" looking diagram made up. Not sure their marketing division was properly briefed on this offering. All they had to do is check an old copy of Shutterbug or Pop Photo (or any lens maker's website) to see how those diagrams are usually done.

By the way, "Seven Blades" would be a cool brand name for something -- reminds me of the Seven Samurai.
