Well-known
HI guys and gals,
Well last Friday I viewed the first batch of photos to come of the printing press.
These were photos that were the most difficult to see as some of the details were dark BUT the guy who is doing all the collating of the pics for the book has done a magic job.
Once I had viewed them, I gave the go ahead to do all 370 B&W photos that will appear in the book. This will take two weeks of part time work at the printers. Brett who is doing the collating is wrapped (read ecstatic) as he is a camera buff in a small way and this is something different to the normal advertising blurp printing he does. The photos are in good hands. I do not want to rush the guy as it has been a long haul and the extra effort will be worth it. Once the photos are done, they are then sent back to Joel who has done the design and layout of the book. I have one last look at it all and then pay my deposit and the print is under way.
I will get the final book in hand roughly eight weeks (middle of October) after the start of printing. The binding of the books takes up most of the eight weeks as each hardback book is individually handled. The size of the book is L 300mm x W 210mm x T 20mm and will have 220 pages and weigh approximately 1750 grms (3.8lbs) after bubble wrap and packing. I am trying to get the total package under the 1750 grms, as the cost of Air Mail postage outside OZ is not cheap if that is the popular choice; Sea Mail is cheaper but takes longer. I am also working out with Australia Post to get a better deal with postage and if I can, I will pass that onto the buyers, this will make it more affordable.
Each book will cost $110.00 AU$ plus postage of around $45.00 AU$. The postage is still an unknown but if it is less I will refund the $$$ and if more I will contact the buyer but it should be around that price. Registered insurance is $6.00 AU$ extra.
The final disc has been delivered to the printers and I am accepting pre-orders via my website and payment can be made via Paypal which I think will suit most buyers. Otherwise Western Union, Bank drafts in OZ$ or good ole cash in US$.

This has been one hell of a learning curve for me as I have never written a book let alone self publish one but it has been enjoyable and if the final product turns out like I think it will then the info inside will be worth the nine years of research that has gone into it.
The front cover is now my AVTAR.
Cheers
