if you had to be completely honest with yourself…(and the rest of us :angel🙂

have you ever taken a good hard look at your images and determined that your better ones have been taken with a particular focal length?

and if so…what IS that focal length?

i have done this on occasion to see if one focal length fares better than another…35 vs. 50…21 vs. 28 etc.

for me…21 and 35 win over the 50 & 28…

care to share?

do you literally mean focal length or effective view angle (depending on the sensor) ??

my answer = 35mm FL in "full frame" 🙄, and 35-52mm FL on an APS sensor.

No, never looked. Off the top of my head, my favourite pictures seem to have mostly been taken with standard or wide-ish lenses, a couple with telephoto too though.

In the Film Age 🙄 I noticed that 35mm FL (FF) was my favorite and I used a prime 35mm lens almost always (except for the fun I had with the CV 15mm 😀)

The HexarAF and the Fuji X100 are made for me.

I love the character of the 28mm(FL) Nikkor lens - happily that gets me to 42mm (EFOV) on the D5100 (not far from 35mm.

I have always struggled with zooms - though my P&S is always a zoom camera (now it's an X10).

The few pictures I have taken that I liked were with moderate narrow angle lenses, on full frame they would be from 85mm to 135mm.

To be honest I'm not a talented photographer but a camera tinkerer.

I really want to be a 35mm guy but seems I'm a 50. It seems the 35 for me is batter for landscapes. The older I get, I seem find myself more reluctant to get in close to strangers to get a good shot with a wide lens. I find the 40mm on my Canonet to be my perfect focal length.

No pattern. My greatest number of favorites were taken with 50 and 35s in 35mm but that's just because they get the most use. I have other favorites with 90, 100 and 21mm lenses. For me it's all situational and changes depending on what's in front of me.

I tend to use only one lens - depends what I happen to pick before heading out to photograph. Some times I regret the choice, but try to make the best of it. I don't think my best images come from any particular lens. I used to shoot wide angles most of the time - 15mm, 21mm, 28mm. When I would use a 50mm it seemed very telephoto to me. Now I tend to favor my CV 50/1.5 and 75/2.5 on a u4/3 body.

i donñt have specific Focal Length best pictures...nowadays i´m using a lot the 28mm lens and 50 or 40...but the lowest rate shots are those taken with 35.

don´t think it dpends on focal length. I give more credit to have enough time to focus on subjects.
