assuming that you have one consistant favourite...what is your favourite everyday carry lens?

i have included only the focal lengths that i might use, so if you're fav is not on the list, sorry.

i have carried the 28 at times (current favourite), the 35 and the 50, and i guess the 40 for a short time too. for my purposes here if you use a 40 then click on the 35 choice.

I've been learning to use the 28 but by far my favorite is still the 50.

Right now, it's the collapsable Industar 3.5 on my FED 3a, but thats with the understanding that I don't yet have a 35mm ltm FED compatible to compare it against.

Cheers

35 ASPH. Every day on the subway. Need the f1.4 and NP1600 to get a decent exposure, plus the lens focuses up to 0.7M which is great for a wide lens.

40mm?

40mm?

40mm is my favorite

There should be a 'haven't worked it out yet' category (imho)... I like the 35mm focal length, but I am still not used to attaching a finder + CV meter... Maybe a Bessa or M-something would sort that out, but I really like the small Barnack clones... For now I'm trying to work with my 50's... Just bought a chrome Canon ltm 50/1.8 to play with :bang:

Now, I'm no FrankS - he prob. has more 50's than I have lenses 🙂 🙂 🙂 but for a focal length that I'm not sure fits me why do I have so many different 50mm lenses? Don't try to answer that... it's a disease... you'd better stay away.

Interestingly enough...for this one I have to go with a 35. The J-12 stays on my camera quite a bit now. The J-3 is there now (and the shots in the Around the House thread were taken with it), but tomorrow the J-12 is going back on for some quick landscape shots before I go to work.

Fifty.

Fifty.

I cast my vote for the big five-oh, if only to justify my current collection - I have something like seven 50s. The only 35 I own is a J-12 in LTM (see avatar), but I'm looking forward to using it more. Gotta learn to see in 35 someday.

Currently, my favorite 50 is a Summitar (hex iris), which is fairly welded to my M4 these days. I'm considering a fire sale to get some money together for a coll. Summicron, though. I'd say, "someone stop me", but I know you guys better than that.

Cheers,
--joe.
