question for knowledgeable canon dslr users

The 5Dc with the 40mm pancake is seriously nice. I bought the 40mm about a year ago, and it has been virtually glued to my 5Dc ever since... my other lenses have barely got a look-in.

If the actual 40mm focal length (i.e. without crop factor) is your thing, it's a superb combination. The 5Dc - while it is now falling behind on the technology side of things - is still a superb performer. The sensor provides a 'look' which I have yet to see in the later 5D models (excellent though they are, in very many ways).

I loved my 40D. Only 10mp, high iso is not great, but very fast and positive in use. Built like a tank.

Joe the 5Dc's output is very nice to iso800 (and iso1600 for bw), but I seem to remember you like small and light camera bags? The Rebels are much easier to carry around but crop the FF lens's image circle, as Robin mentioned you'd need the 24 pancake on a Rebel to get close to the FOV of the 40 pancake on FF.

went out today, trying on a few different used bodies and wound up without making a decision on them...didn't really care for any of them.
but i did try a new m lens, the 11-22 and now i really want that one!

with much time for thinking (aka driving myself looney)...my thoughts lead me to wondering, what would i use more? a used canon 5d for my very nice 40 pancake lens or a nice new 11-22 for my used eos m camera?
i'm liking the m more and more but using a 40 on a ff sensor could be a blast too!

-A later 5D does not have an off color display.

- I have given both the 40mm and 28mm lenses their extended residence on my 5D.

- And I work at neutralizing the Canon color bias. UFRaw post processing is very good for this camera, a genuinely faithful color matrix and faithful contrast.

what i was thinking was using the 5d plus 40 for b&w only street shooting.

Bad idea, to be honest. I stopped using 5DC for street photography a while ago. It is OK for scenery and still life, but once you are getting closer to people.... Kids after shutter bang will start to look around. Sutter is so loud, I almost have to ask to excuse me for not holding it.

Nothing is wrong with 1600 for colors. It is my default ISO for indoors.

the currency exchange is gonna kill this deal anyway...400 usd = 500 cdn bucks...i would need to find a good deal in canada!

How closer it could be, it is Toronto area.
Wait... I purchased my 5Dc a while ago and it was in ten minutes walk from my home, if not less. I guess, it was "something closer".
