Thanks Tom. I picked it up about a month ago as a non-op from KEH. The opening curtain was sitting at a diagonal, so I new I'd be putting curtains and ribbons in it. After I finished the curtain job and CLA, I thought it would be nice to have the finish spiffed up too, so got a kit from cameraleather.LeicaTom said:Nice camera Dean

Closest thing I can find to the original covering - What I heard is Leitz ran out of their older style covering in the early 70`s

I contacted James Lager two weeks ago and we had a nice email conversation. He really is a nice guy and was very interested in the details of my camera. After checking his archive, he told me that the camera has matching numbers, body and lens were both delivered to the Wehrmacht in Berlin at the same day back in 1944 and are together since then!Harry Lime said:

Yes I can see it! That finder is LARGE! I thought mine was a little unwieldy.

It it a TOC universal viewfinder (similar to Nikon Varifocal)
It covers 28,35,50,73,90,105,135. It was made in Japan and was sold as an alternative to the Nikon/Nippon external finder. I love it because it is so bright, even at 135. It also has a parralax correction dial. I got it for $135. The Nikon/TEWE finders alwasys go for too much.

It's my 'user', bought in 1982 and active since.
Just back from a CLA and re-finishing by Peter at CRR. Sweet as a nut.
All it needs now is a few more years of good usage.
Apologies for the pictures which do not do Peter's work justice. I wanted to take some photos quickly while the camera is still unmarked and my son has made off with tripod and lights.

The Peaceful Pacific
Well, it's here... my IIIf bought from an RFF member several months ago, and hand-carried to me from Michigan to Jerusalem, by a dear friend. It is so beautiful, I've got to more pix of it to do it justice. Very clean and in pristine condition, the IIIf deserves to be used. That's a J8 on it in the Thumbnail, collimated to the Leica standard.
