Well done USA. So we qualify behind you, but we're both going on. Watch out if we meet again though; England were looking a lot more dangerous today...

Smart goal by Donovan. He sent a nice ball forward, followed the play as he should and struck the rebound in stride. Well done!

Really nice goal.
What surprise me is how naive are Ghana's attackers, the move the ball really well but they miss tons of situations.
Another finding, the defense of Germany is weak. I was afraid about Argentina's defense but know seeing another teams, we are not so bad.

aye, Mertesacker almost killed the German team two or three times, Boateng didn't always look too good either. Lahm and Friedrich did quite a good job though, I think. also Schweinsteiger, who, along with Özil is the heart of this team today. both should be voted man of the match!
I am very impressed with Ghana's motivation today, they really have some spirit going on!

reeeeeaaaaally well defended by Ghana though, they managed to neutralise the very dangerous German attackers quite often!

I fear it might turn out a bit violent, given the first provocations coming from Rooney for example...
USA - Ghana could turn out to be reaaaally exciting, both very enthusiastic, both riding good waves so far, I can't wait!

Yes!
A great chance for one of them for being in semifinals... It would be cool seeing different teams winning important matches this time...

Has Rooney threatened violence?

no no no, don't get me wrong, he just stated how satisfying it would be for him to kick out Germany. he said nothing wrong, but GER - ENG is a classic and the past matches are not known to have been the cosiest of all
I hope for an exciting and passionate but fair game. and a good referee. =)

He's said he really wants to knock Germany out of the world cup, which is a bit rash seeing how well we've done so far.
Though I was reading the FAZs coverage of England vs. Slovenia, in which they said something like "That wasn't England playing, because it was like proper football" so I reckon we're even...
That said, a Germany vs. England match has the potential to be really exciting, seeing as everyone will all be fired up.
Either that or a tedious draw after which we lose on penalties

the draw + penalties would be a classic too...
the FAZ wrote
"Sah gar nicht wie England aus - sondern wie Fußball"
which is easy to misunderstand, but, given the context, they really referred to England's previous two games of this world cup.
I hate it when the press of different nations start bombing each other for nothing (the french and english are way better at this than the german and english press!), I don't think that's what they were trying here.
the fun thing is that all the players are too young to really have lived the sportive rivalry between the two teams, it's all tradition today and instead of concentrating on the tradition, let's hope they play clean and good football. the tradition would be Germany winning though...

That's good. I wasn't sure whether Mr R might have spoken out of line. He is best when he speaks with the ball. Hopefully he will find his muse on Sunday as he is yet to show his best and his best is wonderful to see (I saw him score a goal against my team that was so good I had to applaud an opponent despite my sinking heart).
I fear there will be too much hype for me between now and Sunday, but I hope for a tough but fair game between two football rivals that have played some great games over the years. Except that this time I would like us to win!
