An excellent acquisition. Once you get to know this lens, I suspect you will understand it is in a class by itself. It is stunningly sharp @ f1.4 and it also does f1.2. I love that it is a 60mm, as such I am more happy to pair it with a 35mm than I would pair a 50mm with a 35mm which I find too close in field of view. The 60mm is just enough longer that it works comfortably for me.
What do you plan to use this on? I find with the M9 that I can, at distances beyond ~12 feet, frame on the inside edge of the 50mm marks, and be pretty accurate. At very near distances I tend to extrapolate a frame half way between the 50mm marks and the 75mm marks. With use it is easier done than described.
If you mount this on a M body, pay very close attention to focus as not all adapter rings are the same. I think I went through 5 different rings before settling on #6, an old E.Leitz 5cm ring with which my lens is dead on with my bodies.
One other issue I had was my lens ran out of focus connection @ ~0.9m despite the lens focussing to 0.8m. I used a Dremel Tool to very carefully grind away both the cutout on the adapter ring and the adjacent collar on the lens to give the RF follower in the body free contact with the RF cam in the lens. Here is an excellent opportunity to follow the carpenter's advice, measure twice, cut once. Slowly work into this if you do it, don't rush. Tape off the back of the lens to keep filings and grit out of the lens and off of the glass. I was just using mine last night making images of my daughter across a table from me in a restaurant, and glad to have that extra 10 centimeters of focus range.
Good that you found one for sale, I know of one of the 800 that will not be available as long as I can still make an image. 😉
