Shooter of Film...
I found a Vivitar 28mm 2.5 (Kiron made, Minolta mount) lens at one of my regular thrift stores...
Paid $15 for it...heavy and old school...what's not to love...
I had to rescue this lens as they placed the price tag right on the front element...

All the same optics.

How funny! Leica CL with 40mm Summicron f2 and a Leicaflex SL2, both from the Leica Shop at the Leitz Park in Wetzlar. The latter came with box, mint case and instruction manual, with the Leica magazine from the release date. Nice touch. The SL2 is near mint and reasonable, the CL in great condition but not warranted and at about half market price with the lens.

Voigtlander Bessa L + 21mm Color Skopar Snapshot (Screw mount) + Viewfinder
I already have a Leica M5 and a couple of M mount lenses but the widest I have is 35mm and I just had to try the Bessa L because of its external meter display. The body is cheap (~$100), and the lens can be used on the M5, too as well as the Ricoh GXR, so I reckoned it was a good investment.

Hi,
Lucky you. FWIW, when Leica moved away from MK Newton Ellis and Co took over care of my CL.

I bought this earlier this week:
Click on thumb for full size pic.
It's a little short on info, such as what the exposure mode is or how to switch on the meter, and doesn't seem to do its "selling" job as well as it could, eg. there are 3 lenses available and instead of making that out to be a really good thing throughout the brochure, in one bit they say "The SL26 has One wide angle and One Telephoto lens" a bit like telling a kid they can have "One chocolate out of the chocolate box and One biscuit out of the biscuit tin", a bit limiting.

Bought the Voigtlander 35mm f2, used, for a great price, from the Head Bartender, thanks Steven!
Also a double handful of reusable metal 35mm film casettes from Freestyle after finding the plastic Kalt brand less than satisfactory.

Good to know. The absence of a functioning meter in the CL (I think it's pretty pointless me buying another battery adaptor to check) is of no concern, and I'm shooting a test roll to check all the speeds. It's a nice little camera, smaller and lighter than my other Leicas, which will see it be used more, and the 40mm focal length lens is perfect for my uses, as well as equipped with a focus tab.
So much film to develop when I get home...Thank heavens my R lenses are all back in the UK!

My 35 2.0 Ultron arrived yesterday. Same deal, looks new with the used price. About most of the way through the first roll and looking forward to the results.

Hi,
FWIW (Cont'd), the meter arm has a mechanical connection, that has been reported as a source of problems; usually solved by cleaning, IRC.
Regards, David
PS Had my CL for decades and I think you'll see why. That and the 90mm lens cover a lot of pictures and take up little space.

And they had a Topcon Super D for $25.... with the 58 macro f/3.5... what would you do. They also had a few bits and bobs like the wlf and matched 1:1 ring and so on. Now I'm crusin for Exakta mount lenses. Any body need a penta prism and wlf for an Exakta VX... I couldn't leave them behind

My arm works, just no battery to check it delivers the correct exposure. But I love it already, it's just a very nice thing. Home today and I can dig out a battery to test it.

While looking around at a local thrift store I did a double take on the used junk electronic shelf and walked out with a very nice Ricoh "35" for $4.00. After my usual series of tests at the store I had to have it. I just loaded it up with some Kodak XX for some test shots tomorrow. I did very well at the thrift stores in the area the last few days Picked up a bunch of new projector bulbs for $3 a pop, a $4 box of unused Kodak 35mm magazines/cassettes, some 16mm movies, a set of 4 12" Smith Victor hot lights (at $10 for the set I am happy and can use them), and more.....

Having recently sold my last stock of about 30 packages of Fuji FP-3000B, I could afford a used Polaroid One Step 2, an even larger stock of Polaroid I-Type film (which I'm loving) and even 20 rolls of Kodak color negative film in 35mm format for my other cameras. Time to get out and shoot..
