What have you just BOUGHT?

Another Voigtländer Viewfinder 15mm v1. I had one of these once upon a time, sold it some time ago for some reason, but I'll need it for the Pixii to use with my 10mm lens. :)

Pan,

I rarely open this thread.....sorry to sound snooty, I am guilty of buying too much stuff, and this thread could fuel the fire.

Anyway, I am struck by the tonal brilliance of these images you've posted! You are on to something :)

David

Thanks David, let's see how these ones turn out to be. I'm going away for Easter (covid permitting, fingers crossed) so I will shoot a few more.

Nine additional IXMOO's at a decent price. Sold some stuff too. Got rid of my last M & R mount 50 Summicrons since I really don't shoot that focal length anymore.

Interesting choice, John, what was your motivation or reasoning behind this purchase?

Yes, it is a weird choice... I've never used a 135mm lens in my life. However, I plan to use it on the street...to complicate things. Shooting through poles and other things that get in the way on purpose. I won't be using it for portraits much or to simplify things. So basically, some experimenting is the reason... after seeing it could work well after doing the same complications with 65, 75, and 85mm lenses. Another big motivator was price... I got it for $325 with import fees and shipping included. That's generally impossible in Chile.

I'm also curious to hear from you about the end results... in other words, what do you think of the lens after using it?

All the best,
Mike

I think it will be delivered to Chile at the end of April, but I will try to remember to let you know once I've used it for awhile.

I found a mint-condition, Leitz Hektor 135mm f/4.5 some years back that I bought for similar reasons. It's a lens that has a terrible reputation amongst the Leica owner communities ... it cost me less than $185 ... but to my surprise it performed very well with the M9 and M-D type 262, and works very well with the Leica CL (digital) as well. That said, I only use it occasionally; it's a bit long for my usual working need.

I'll be interested to see how the Viltrox works for you. :)

Thank you for the encouragement. I figure if it doesn't work out, it'll be easy to sell here... and if I can't sell it, it isn't that much of a loss either.

A 1950 ZK 5cm f/1.5 in LTM. Lens is in beautiful condition, makes we think that it is either old stock, or rarely used. Really nice for a lens that is 72 years old.

Hey, John, nothing weird about it! I use my Fujinon 90mm f2 on the street all the time, it's great for isolating subjects. I think you'll have a blast with your new lens.

All the best,

My Rolleiflex F3.5 Planar was serviced by Fleenor for a small fortune back in 2019, five months ago I noticed the self timer had stopped working again, the depth of field indicators had slowed down to a snails pace, only by moving the focus knob would they move into position…….so I decided to look for a new one that I would invest in instead of a service fee of another $800
And here she is, I looked and looked and looked. Had her for two months and she is like new in every way. Smooth as silk, one tiny scratch but otherwise absolutely perfect. But I did pay a serious price for her……

A few years ago I sifted through a display case of four of those lenses and selected the very best - clean glass and smooth operation. I’ve used it on my M3 and have been happy with the results. I became good at using the 135mm frame lines.

Three years? That’s not encouraging.

Now, it’s not Perfex, rather, Periflex (British 35mm). It slipped onto the Perfex lens with a little adjustment on my Unimat lathe. I think overall it brought things more”into scale” on the Perfex. Every big honking camera! Needs a big honking lens hood!next step it to make and install straplugs. P

I have to admit that on the 4th I ordered a Pixii. I haven't enjoyed spending money this much in a long time. Now it is the madness waiting for it to arrive. Also got a couple of vintage lenses for it: a nice Jupiter 35mm 12, a '51, and a Canon 35mm LTM f/2.0 black, the final version and supposed to be the best. NP-FW50 aftermarket batteries and charger, that's it. Really excited about this camera. I have some M mount lenses for Leicas so I am OK on that.

Come on, camera.

I ordered the Voigtländer Nokton 23mm F1.2 Aspherical X mount lens from a local B&M camera shop about 5 weeks ago. They called me today to say that it's delayed. I don't care, it arrives when it arrives; no sooner, no later.

All the best,
Mike
