What have you just BOUGHT?

A beauty, with a great lens

I'm looking forward to putting a film through it. I have seen some photos online with quite characterful bokeh taken with this camera. And the build quality is impressive, it's a heavy thing! If you / anyone have any sample shots taken with one I'm interested to see them.

I wanted to emphasize the geometric form of the Ricoh Auto Half-E, so I "floated" it above the background in order to minimize shadows, and I photographed it straight on with 50 mm macro lens. And except for the reflections from the coated lens, the image was already nearly monochromatic, so I converted to b&w.

Camera's selenium meter cell is dead, but perhaps I'll see if I can cut a silicon photocell to fit. Meanwhile, I can still use it at 1/30th sec with manual aperture control.

I realise this isn't rangefinder related... but I'd been wanting to get back to photography after a big move (so it's been a long while) and decided to go on a bit of a Zuiko binge and managed to get some in mint shape (with boxes even):
  • H.Zuiko 24mm 2.8
  • G.Zuiko 35mm 2.8
  • Zuiko MC 135mm 2.8
Only the 135mm arrived so far, it'll be a bit weird for me to shoot that long, but an interesting challenge. I was also quite a shock to see how much pricier film has gotten. I might finally have to start bulk-rolling.

Me Also. "Increasing Film Speed" Peterson's Edition, and 100' of PanF+. And 100' of HP5+. And 250 feet of 18cm Agfa Aviphot 200.

Nice find Jeff, and I love how you chose to photograph it. At first I thought it was a 1960's promotional photo of the camera!

I see if I can dig some out, I used to shoot with one about fifteen year ago, may be a little longer, from memory it was a nice camera to shoot colour film through, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Thank you! That's pretty much the effect I was after. I added details about how I staged the photo, figuring that without it, folks might just think I scanned a catalog image.

Small item, Mil-O UV17 Series V with case. Needed to protect the Cooke Amotal and it fits between lens hood and the lens by slipping into the space just before the front lens element. Hurrah!

It's been a busy few weeks. First, several rolls of Arrista and Fomapan 100. Then a Bessa R from TaoPhoto to go with my Bessa L, and finally I got Helen Hill's M10 in the mail today! I'm poor but happy.

I've been buying some Bayonet 1/B30 filters for my Yashica 635. I've probably gone a "little bit" overboard as I'm fairly sure I probably won't use the 80B, and only have (very?) limited use for the Cross screen 4, the diffuser, the clear centre spot (which does have a clean, clear centre spot, but when I attach it to the viewing lens after carefully focusing it, seems to show an out of focus image even in the ground glass centre?) I may get some use out of the NDx2, but probably not too much out of the 81A nor the 82A.

Having read (in a leaflet that came with the diffuser filter) that "Duto" filters are like diffusers, but the image looks a bit sharper, I'll probably end up getting one of those.

I'm waiting on the fourth bayonet 1 Green filter. It's a complicated story but Rollei bayonet 1 Green filters are more like light green filters and their actual "Hell-Grun/Light Green" is the same as my Hoya Yellow-Green! I've ordered a no-name green in the hope that it's actually darkish-medium Green.

There is a Photax "Crystal" filter I could get, but I've no idea what it does. Googling hasn't been much help.

Obviously, it makes all your photos "Crystal" clear, even when out of focus or blurred from camera shake. A must-have for every photographer. Don't hesitate!

It was the last day of the Fujifilm Summer Sale at the local camera shop. The dollar/yen exchange rate was strongly in my favor.
It would have been a sin not to buy it! I bought it!

Fujinon XF 33mm f1.4 R LM WR lens (FF Eq 50mm) (ø58mm filter size)

R - Aperture ring
LM – Linear Motor
WR - Weather Resistant

All the best,
Mike

The Gods demanded you purchase it.

Lol.:D

I've just found out what it actually does : It's a sort of cross screen filter but with the lines going diagonally, and spread further apart than a cross screen. Something to do with making lights look a bit like snowflakes or something. I'll let you know if I win it. I admit it, I've got "almost pointless filter" gas!

a bottle of campari to make some negroni(s)...my gin suddenly disappeared....then everything is fine with the bacardi instead of gin...
