What have you resisted buying in 2010?

Being broke, I have resisted almost everything lately. Well, except a $3 bargain filter last weekend. - Like I needed one more filter!

Lately I've resisted of buying a Graflex Super Speed. It's a great camera but think I wouldn't use it after a while. Still, I'd like to try 4x5 one day.

Right now I'm thinking of giving Leica one last chance. Just /maybe/ the M6 TTL .85 would be more suitable for me than the previous M-bodies I've used and then sold.

Hexar AF.

I just said no way! a few years ago when I heard they were hard to be serviced, had a fixed lens, and especially when I found its top speed was 1/250...

I kept feeling like that until 2010... After using during 2010 my XA (similar top shutter speed) more than the rest of my faster shutter, "better" cameras for the street shots I really care for, getting great results on and out of direct sun, I started to consider maybe the Hexar AF could be used too, at least as a "bag bottom" camera just for real low light cases where focusing with manual lenses becomes hard or impossible...

Then some months ago, after reading a few threads here, and I remember maybe ampguy and/or other experienced forum members talking about it as "the best 35mm camera ever", I was very surprised... So I started to read about it every day... When I got to Richard Caruana's great article, and I read how peculiarly the Hexar AF behaves in P mode, finally I understood why its top speed doesn't mater at all, and I fell in love with its design... I haven't stopped thinking about it since... A clever street camera! And if I ever want to shoot wide open with good light, it's as easy as using slow film and carrying my 3 and 6 stop ND filters...

But now it's 2011, and I couldn't resist even one more month: tomorrow I'll receive here at home my Hexar AF at last... I can't wait!

Cheers,

Juan
