Have loved many, they come and go. M3 for viewfinder, build, and lenses, but alas no light meter, so it got sold. Canon F-1n, for viewfinder, build, FD lenses, but it got terminally broken, so it got binned.
No real favorite these days. Like my F3HP, and use my D4 and D700 to make a living, but no love affair right now. :-(

My favorite for the last 30 years is my K1000. But my SRT-102 is also running very close.
For digital it has been the M9 for over two years.
If I were forced to pick one it would be a real struggle, but it would almost surely be the K1000 with the M50/2 and Series One 90-180 flatfield macro.

I would have to say the Ricoh GXR, though that may be cheating a bit since it's across several lens units. I'm using the X-Pro1 a bit more though at the moment.

A few years ago this would be an easy question to answer. But now after using so many cameras, trying to choose which is best is not quite difficult. The difference in the end product when using a multi-thousand dollar camera to one which costs $50 or so is sometimes very small.
But if my choice is determined by those cameras which I have held onto, and don't plan to sell, then the choice is easer.
First is my old Nikon F. I have had this camera for awhile, it is a bit heavy, clunky, and not especially quiet, but it is completely reliable. Having spent a lot of time repairing cameras, I can tell that this one has never been tampered with for repair or adjustment. I wish I myself had gone so long without requiring any help.
The next is another Nikon. After getting the rangefinders in my Leicas knocked out of adjustment when I drop my bag, bump the camera against a door or wall, etc. I decided to get the toughest, most reliable camera I could. Normally my old F would suffice, but I found something even tougher in the F2 Titan.
The last are my oldest cameras, and maybe the most used. The old SP is like the F, it simply works. Compared to the F, it is smoother, smaller, and quieter. I like that I can wind, focus, and shoot with only my right hand, which is great when using an umbrella, or carrying a bag. The Rolleiflex looks like crap on the outside, but I replaced almost all of the internal parts with new old stock bits. These two usually stay in the same bag together.

I like the way they look ^^^ You can't really argue you are a collector. When people see my film cameras, even if I am not babying them, the first question is usually: are you a collector?

I get asked that about my beat up users. Most people don't have understanding of what camera collection means. And how should I answer?
There used to be a (general) show called 'Collectors' on Aussie public TV. Their promo claimed 3 is the magic number: 2 of the same/ same kind of thing is justifiable. After that you're collecting.

But is an OM-2s the same kind of thing as an OM-4T or an OM-1n? Some would say not. Is an F the same kind of thing as an F3 or an FM3a? Perhaps, but they're certainly not the same kind of thing as an OM, or a Leica M 😱 I'm not a collector, not at all...

With what I have sitting in this house I would have to say the Nikon F5...
It fits my hand and feels great... fast auto focus, very nice view finder and a great meter when using B&W film...
The only negative I have with this camera is that it sucks the life out of batteries pretty fast...

My favorite camera that would be my Leica M4-P. However, I almost always use my M4-2, M7, or M3 instead of the M4-P ... 🙂

Easy peasy, the M2. So much so that I've got two of them. Choosing which one of the two is my favourite, now that 'd be hard.
As to why, I wont be original. I guess for the kind of thing(s) I am interested in photographing, it's the sort of camera that provides a seamless experience. I appreciate the near instant reaction time. It's a simple camera, not many things can go wrong, and not too expensive if/when they do. Also, being used to it, anything else demands an adjustment period.
