Camera and Coffee

I have a little right angle viewer for my FE and would like one for the D70. People don't realize how great they are for shooting flowers or people or whatever. We forget about a childs eye view and how unique it is.

Here's some coffee. I'm holding the camera. My son and I were on a motorcycle trip to Canada.

I love Canada, been there twice on motorcycle trips.

427 Finder is sweet!

427 Finder is sweet!

Hey D2!

I really think that 427 finder is the goods, and it looks so bright! At first I was thinking it may be too big but the image through the finder cancels that fear out.... something else to add to the "TO BUY" list.

Hey didn't know you like BMW bikes as well.... I decided while riding a bus today and seeing a R60 go by that I will undertake a 2 year plan to seek out, buy and restore a R69US....love this bike, not too many of them in Australia but they are around. So I am giving myself time to seek out those who own/love them here in OZ, gain some knowledge and start earning some cash to buy and fix one up.

So I'll get back to you in about 2 years with the first posting of "Bikes and Cameras" 😀

AKALAI

PS. I am glad I was of some help with you buying the 427 finder, I am just thankful you posted those pics so I could see what it is like, so Cheers!

Hey Pherdi,

Its "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An inquiry into Values" by Robert M. Pirsig.

I remember reading, or rather "trying" to read this when I was in my last year of High School.... I got some of it but think a lot was lost on me...and have just found it in my bookshelf so I think I'll have to have another crack at it.

Here is the Amazon.com link to this book:

Wonderful book. One of my all-time favourites.

Motorcycles

I've had quite a few. In 1980 I had a R665, then Goldwing, Yamaha cruiser, Harley, then Goldwing with sidecar(my son didn't like the Harley), and now a Harley dresser again. I like them all, but I went for the Harley to get me to slow down and enjoy the scenery. I love taking off on trips and love the backroads.

Peter,
That is a beautiful finder and an excellent picture of it. Rather blasphemous to be using that on your Leica -- if your conscience ever starts to bother you I may be able to propose a solution😀 Seriously, that's very nice and it's in excellent condition -- nice score. The old Nikon finders are cool, too.

D2
LOL Doug but I don't mind using mongrel cameras! I know some people will only use Leica with Leica or whatever, but if a good solution is made by another manufacturer then I'll use it. Looking forward to an M-Zeiss 35/2 coming out this year! 😀

Akalai's story reminds me a little bit of my R65 restoration.

That's my friendly R65 (Trying to attach a picture):

HAHA same here. I think I did actually finish it but I can't for the life of me remember what it was about, other than it was depressing!

Boxers? BMW? Nice enough, I'll admit. But to my tastes, give me the real deal - a nice vertical twin from Triumph! That's the real ticket, especially since they're making Bonnies again. And no Lucas "prince of darkness" anywhere to be found 😀

Ah, but is anyone thinking of reviving the Norton? Give me a Commando, an RF and a back-seat warmer; I'll gladly ride into the sunset a truly happy man ~ ; - )

camera & caffeine

camera & caffeine

This is my little decadent camera, resting on decadent book (not magazine) and some caffeine in cup (Earl Grey). Sorry, java is only on NG frontpage. ;-)

And then, why cigar ?

When an orthodox Leica user looks at my VC 35mm/f2.5,
he smiles, speaks, "nice, ..., but, ..., well,... you know,...
close, but no cigar !"

My answer is, "OK, I'll have close and cigar..."

Regards, B.

I hate that bloody p&s digital flash...

I hate that bloody p&s digital flash...

..., so I rated camera's bloody digi_cam_sensor to ISO400, and then, no flash, no red eyes ;-), no file editing, and maybe a little bit more blurry image under the ordinary bulb light, well ... 8-//
