Camera and Coffee

Camera and...

Guess what's on the cover of this month's (January) "National Geographic" (also a feature story)?

🙂

"why we love caffeine" 😀

the one-two low-light stops we earn with using a RF instead of a SLR we lose due to too much coffee. 😀

Yep. I tried compensating by using a tripod. Unfortunately I was shaking so bad I spilled coffee on one of the tripod legs and now it shakes too. 😱 😀

Okay, here are my image buddies -- my Bessa and my Panasonic Lumix FZ20 (Digital Rebel replacement) sharing a cup of Tall Bold while I bring my photojournal up to date. (not a bad shot for 1/8s handheld with my little S45 digital)

Konica and Minolta (not KonicaMinolta 😉)

Konica and Minolta (not KonicaMinolta 😉)

Just scanned the other two 'Camera and Beer' shots.
Konica Auto S2 and Minolta HiMatic 7s (which might look familiar to Joe... 😉)

Joe,
yes, that was the original plan; however, while the Minolta was in transit, he got a nearly mint HiMatic 7SII that he's totally in love with, so I figured my intended surprise gift would not be that special (he's not the collector type, he only owns two or three cameras at a time and sells off the ones he does not use - right now he's thinking about swapping his FM3n for a Minolta CLE...). So I thought I'd rather give it a loving home myself, were it would be appreciated accordingly... 😉

gene, that lens looks kinda hugemongous! (sp?)

Yes, the lens barrel is quite large to hold the Leica-branded DC Vario-Elmarit that remains at f/2.8 throughout its zoom range of 36 - 432mm equiv. And it's got image stabilizers built in as well. It looks larger in pics than it actually is in your hand. Fits quite easily into my Lowepro Nova 2 bag alongside my Bessa and a couple of spare lenses.

Now that is a way too cool for words finder. What is that puppy called so I can troll the bay looking for one for myself?

My little guy's new phrase is "way cool" 🙂 I think that applies here. Gonna have to find one of them, that's far more fun and funky than a turret finder.

Thanks for the info.

peter that is really cool. I used to use a waist level finder on Nikon f's with wideangle lens' to get a different view.

Yep I have an F3 and it has a waist level finder, the D2 I think. This little guy is much smaller and really only useful for aiming the camera in the general direction of the subject.
