Anyway, the Mrs and I got into San Francisco ok. Wow, what a long flight from North Carolina! We're beat. But anyway, had dinner in Chinatown. So here you go, sorry, no coffee...this time.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Bill Cool snap. I've knocked down many a Tsingtao (pronounced-chingdow) during a long day of street shooting. Way to go!

Beautiful, Rover. A lovely Bessa R2 with trigger winder and not just a cuppa, but a whole pot of freshly ground, freshly brewed coffee. Now that's livin' :D

Rover great shot! Judging from the yellow filter I take it you got some B&W loaded and ready to go :)

Here's a proper coffe-and-camera shot. Taken this morning my my wife at the Palace Hotel Grand Ballroom at breakfast. She took this with her Nikon 995 digital. My camera is the CV Bessa R with newly-acquired Canon 50mm 1.4.

Best Regards,

Here's what the Grand Ballroom looks like - very nice! Also very expensive. I think that was our first and last breakfast there, although the food was wonderful, the waiter was polite and attentive, and it was just an all-around excellent experience. Worth doing once!

Lovely Bessa shot, Bill. That new Canon lens looks perfect on it.

Nice to see the two of you enjoying yourselves as well!

Which brings up another question. While out shooting with a couple of RF's or an rf and an SLR, have you found yourself having to get the "larger table" to accommodate your shooting rigs? I think that the girlfriend is finally adjusting to this. She should by now, it's usually a Nikon FE and 28-105 that she has brought to the eating & drinking occasion.....

Damn, I guess I will have to take up drinking coffee, so that I can legitimately participate in this thread....

Niiice collection and great looking cameras.

You reminded me that I still one day want a Graflex...nice...

Graphics

Graphics

Does a Speed Graphic count as a "rangefinder camera"?

I guess so, since mine also has the usual Kalart RF...
So, I might post a photo or two in my gallery soon, taken with my 2x3 Pacemaker Speed Graphic.

I just love those Graphics - although I only have this one. The construction is uncomplicated, most of the repairs can be done DIY-style, and you can put practically anything on the lensboard and try it out.

When I get my Dark Room set back up it will be time to turn some attention to the old "Speed Graphic" with its stunning 135mm F3.5 Xenotar. The other nice thing about the Speed Graphics with the built in Focal Plane shutter is the ability to use enlarging lenses as taking lenses. I have a 150mm F5.6 El-Nikkor just yelling at me to mount on the spare lensboard. I even have a salvaged Quartz (as in super-Apo-Chromatic) lens on a lensboard.

I count the Speed Graphic and even older "Century Graphic" as RF's. The Kalart RF is much nicer than the Meyer finder on the WWII vintage camera.

What I do not have with a high-maintenance 6-year old is time. Maybe I will look for some 4x5 Polaroid on EBay...

Today's Coffee & Camera (no, I'm not going to do this every day - I'm just having fun). Taken at the world-famous Fog City Diner near Pier 23 in San Francisco. Ann-Marie handled the Nikon 995 while I hand-modeled the Olympus XA with accessory flash. By the way, folks, I know most of you know this already - but the XA is a mighty fine little take-along camera. Just toss it in a pocket and go!

Best Regards,
