Many of us enjoy the photographs in a gallery, the favorite book of photographs, the sitting at the pavement cafe waiting for the right moment, and the hiking for an hour for the right view.
Real cameras doing what they were made to do. Real lenses being used use for images not lines per millimetre sort of tests.
Lets talk about photographs, images, art and opinions. Opinions about images not about whether the M3 is better than the M6.
Jon,
oh , really another sample of this rare species !!?? Salve, collega !!
I thought I am almost alone here among all these toy addicted here !
😉 You have to expect tho that your standpoint will be considered as extremely BORING by the very most of this bunch of gearoholics here.
For those with a limited humor, her begins the joke :
Some of them I imagine as drooling in front of their monitors about any new ebay offers all day long, in a kinda pre-comatose mental condition, skinny, hollow chekked, feverish, sometimes howling in the pain of indecison.
Poor folks, they will die from malnutrition one day sourrounded by mountains of lensboxes and tests shots, on which you can recognize their dogs and cats, their kids, their motorbikes, details of their backyards, hundreds of people shot on the street from behind and of course, their cameras !!
😀 😀 😀
They' d best tattoo Peppo's elegant Goethe quote on their forheads so they could see it each morning while they shave their furrowed faces.
😛
And here ends the joke !
Enuff of this sorta mockery, they will burn me at the stake for that anyway, shiver !
More serious now: I am not in either, no, my probs are different. I own six cameras and four of them I don't need at all, which means the once promised affluent society has come true for me, at least when it comes to cameras. I haven't bought any gear since more than a year . In one case ( a super wide zoom for my SLR) I came quite close to a buy but changed my mind later, because I realized that it would mean just one pound more to lug around for a very limited use.
While I tried to decide about this nice-to-have buy I noticed again that thinking about any new purchases leads my mind to the opposite direction, away from photography. Maybe that is the worst effect of this, worse than the wasted money.
My probs are different, I often have a creative blockade, not able to think up an interesting project which keeps my mind busy. Not that I would not find any ideas, but not enuff and not fast enuff, a kinda foreceps delivery each time.
So I thought about a ( sticky) thread in the forum, where we could organize a kinda project idea interchange but somehow I think this is a too "clubby idea" , something like this bizarre HCB contest gallery ?
It's a personal thing IMO, one has to find out oneself what one wants to "say".
These clubby things are more a kinda training, you got a weight and you must lift it. Other opinions ?
