turned from 35 to 50?

I shoot mainly in Chicago. When it gets crowded I use a Sigma 19 or Voigtlander 25 on my Nex 7 (about 28 and 37mm). In the suburbs where I live and when the city isn't too active, I switch to the Sigma 30 (45mm). It's hard for me to see how one focal length would work for all or most situations. I like 50mm but it just feels so long sometimes.

I do love the hyperfocal potential of wider lenses, but I sometimes find myself cropping in post more than I'm comfortable doing.

When I used APS-C DSLRs I used a fast 50 and didn't mind the tighter FOV. As I've gotten older I've found myself using the 35s on FF digital and 35mm, and 65mm in medium format, because I like getting closer and enjoy the intimate perspective. I returned a 50mm cron because, in my mind, it didn't have the advantages of either a wide or tight perspective. But for some reason now I'm looking at 50mm Sonnar lenses; still trying to make it work I guess.
