Voigtlander 'Vintage Line' 50mm 1.5 ii

Intresting both leica and voigtlander are introducing vintage/heritage lines.

I was consideing the TTartisan 50 f1.4 until this gem popped up. Need to stop and think about GAS lol

The CV 50 f1.5 always appealed to be but the design put me off. This version looks nicer design-wise.

So it's styled after this, a version of the Topcor-S 50/2 (called "Panda"):

Mr. Kobayashi's love affair with Tokyo Kogaku rocks on....

It will have to display plus or minus two stops of focus shift as you move through the aperture range if it expects to replace my beloved Zeiss C-Sonnar.

😀

Leica retro ones are total rip off with results variability from garbage to slightly better than Minotar-1. Cosina new retro trend delivers slightly retro looking lenses with superior to Leica retro gimmicks results.
Also Nokton 35 1.4 II, which is retro as well is better than totally overpriced, over glorified Lux ELC.

Gauss type, Ultron-derived, with retrofocal rear element to boot.

I think you might be right, it looks like an Ultron-derived lens. This is the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.8 Color-Ultron and it looks similar-ish, with a more concave front element and the addition of a double aspherical rear element

The Nokton v1 optical design was very similar to the original Prominent 50/f2 Ultron.

The original 1.5 Nokton in chrome is probably my favorite 50mm. Will be interesting to see what the new one can do. And I might be weird but I like the original focusing ring.

Shawn, are you talking about the original Voigtlander/COSINA NOKTON 50mm F1.5 Aspherical with LTM mount?
