35/1.2 Nokton price raise?

I love looking at a 10 year old Price Guide for lenses.

$100 suggested price for a Zeiss Sonnar 5cm F1.5 in Leica Mount.

I think my lenses are doing better than the stock market.

So after fillet mignon you expect us to settle for hamburger patties?

:D

small, fast and sharp...now that i have decided on using 40s and not 35mm lenses i want to get the cv 40 for a faster alternative to my sonnar 40.

i tried the 35/1.2 and sold it...not my cut of beef...

if you want a deal...try the 40/1.4 cv lens, it's a great lens and relatively cheap compared to anything at 1.2.

It's not the speed that attracts most people, it's the build quality and rendering compared to the 40mm that makes the 35 Nokton so special.

So not a size issue then!

At some stage I will have to get myself a small 35mm f2 or faster. I recently sold my 35mm f2 KM Hexanon then realised after it was gone my only option left for 35mm RF was the 1.2 Nokton which although very good is large and heavy.

If the 35/1,2 was branded 'Leica' people would be giving it the classic 'oh the Noctilux isn't THAT big' line :D

i love the 50/1.1...as big as it is. i only sold it to help pay the vet...so, no, size was not the problem.

The 35/1.2 Nokton takes 52mm filters! Can't be any bigger than my 55/1.2 Nikkor...

NOW: the Canon 50/0.95 takes 72mm Filters. Can you still buy those for $200, or did they go up too... Glad I have two of them at that price.

i don't understand the big deal??? yen / dollar exchange is not controlled by cameraquest (or any other importer). as stated in an earlier post, i remember cameraquest warning of the impending price correction a few months ago right here on RFF. makes me glad i heeded the warning. i am also glad that if i ever go to sell my 35/1.2, i will get at least what i paid for it.

i bought my first of many used 1960's fender basses in 1980 for $185... not as an investment, but as a tool of choice. any idea what happened to the price of those when vintage fenders became popular in japan in the 1990's? i do. you can't imagine the intense whining that went on and on by american collectors. people i know were selling guitars for $10-15k to japanese collectors that they picked up for a $2-3 hundred 10 years earlier. now china is becoming a player in the collector market and i hear they fancy leicas... look out!
