Fair enough, but the chrome mount in the photo looks alot thicker than a conventional M adapter. But your probably right but I cant see Cosina changing the optical design of the lens but just add an M mount as that has been their usual upgrade, especially when the lens is as good as the 28mm f1.9 is.

This thread is like the waiting room in an maternity ward. All the soon to be fathers are waiting impatiently for their babies to be delivered. Meanwhile the conversations go on like "How will it look like?", "What character will it have?", "How cute will it be?, "I cannot wait till I can hold it in my arms."

yes but it concerns the 1.2/35 . For me it looks like a selling-out before the 1.4 arrives.
 
That's the wrong way to look at it. Gear has always been more expensive in Europe. Compare the prices of the Nokton 40 and you will likely be below U$450.
 
Take
{($ price of Nokton in USA/$ price of Nokton in Germany)} * ($ price of new lens in Germany*0.83.)


The factor 0.83 is simply 100% -17% Value Added Tax (VAT).

This should be a reasonable estimate as a starting point for the price of the 35mm/1.4 in the USA without sales tax.


price of nokton in germany= $450
price of nokton in usa = $350
price of new lens in germany=$577

Estimated price of new 35mm lens in usa= (350/450)*(577*0.830)=$372. It will be sold at a higher price to set it apart from the Nokton.

Most likely, the 35mm lens will sell for about $425-$450 in the USA.

raid, in your formula you can take both german prices in € and save the conversion to US$, it makes no difference. What's the reason for the strange 0.83 factor?

EDIT: should read completely before typing re: 0.83
EDIT 2: I could swear, the 0.83 explanation was not there, when I read it first... ;-)

Since you're going back for clarifications, how about for corrections. 😀

If you really want to net the VAT, the correct ratio is 100/117 not 83/100 (17% on 83 doesn't add in to make 100).

So your real factor rounds to 0.8547. This will give you the price, net of VAT.

Since you didn't ask, I'll DARFC (duck & run for cover) 😀

Of course this sort of precision is totally irrelavent on a non-existant product.

Just retired from my 21 year construction business where I regularly thought, "How about you boys & girls come & run my business, and just send ME a check for 14% sales (tax in Manitoba). I'll stay at home and lie in bed & eat chocolate cake like you-all are doing now"

(I long ago resigned myself to the 14% as legalized extortion in exchange for protection....oh...then pay your corporate, personal taxes, and head home & pay the PST/GST (VAT) for stuff you buy for yourself)
